Preferred Utilization Management, Inc. (PUMI) is a URAC accredited chiropractic utilization management company. PUMI was founded by five Doctors of Chiropractic in 1983. All types of medical insurance plans access our review services for utilization review and treatment preauthorization.

PUMI review services are available throughout the United States for health insurance, workers' compensation insurance and personal injury. We have been licensed in several states to perform utilization review services. Please contact us to confirm if we are licensed in your service area.

You can access complete utilization management services through PUMI by way of a service agreement with us. Complete services include: training for your staff on interfacing with our system, review performed by experienced Doctors of Chiropractic, communication with treating providers and patients regarding review decisions and reporting. Because we are URAC accredited, you can be assured that our communications, appeals and grievance procedures are thorough.

PUMI is in the process of developing an automated review product that will allow clients to upload X12 formatted HIPAA files (837 and 278) to us. Our system will then provide electronic review decisions within minutes. We anticipate that this service will be available by the middle of 2007.
